2 Men Skin Care Problems & Solutions

Skin care for men may sometimes differ from women’s. At one time, it seemed the only thing that companies focused on was a manly fragrance, but men skin care should address a number of issues.

Most guys shave. They play hard sports and are frequently exposed to the elements. They may be neglectful about skincare and the use of sun block. As a result, they may find that they have premature aging and other types of damage that must be addressed quickly. Here are some of the things that skin care for men should encompass.

Problem #1 - Redness, Inflammation

Due in part to shaving, men’s skin is particularly prone to redness and inflammation. A new, just for men skin care line has been introduced that addresses this issue. One of the active components is called Functional Keratin.

Functional keratin has been shown in clinical studies to block the production of prostaglandin E2 or PGE2. This is the biochemical pathway that leads to inflammation and redness. Studies have shown a 70% reduction of PGE2 and thus a reduction of redness and inflammation. This is particularly good after shaving
.
You may see some skin care for men that contain keratin, but this is not the same as Functional Keratin. The peptide proteins are not active in the older types of keratin. Functional Keratin is new and created using a patented process that allows the peptides to remain active and penetrate deeply.

Problems #2 - Overexposure to the Elements

Oxidation causes wrinkles and damage that can lead to cancer. You can’t avoid oxygen, but you can prevent it from damaging the cells. Of course, you should limit your exposure to the sun, because it increases oxidation and free radical production. You should also wear a zinc oxide sun block when you expect to be out for more than 15 minutes, but there are other things to do, as well.

Solutions for Men Skin Care

For both women and men skin care products should include antioxidants to prevent oxidation and repair free radical damage. Coenzyme Q10 and vitamin E are most important, but there are other plant antioxidants that are even more active.

But, skin care for men should also include a daily fluid that contains vitamin B5. This protects from sunburn, relieves irritation, repairs damaged tissues and enhances the natural tanning process. Tanning protects the deepest of the skin’s layers from UV radiation that can lead to cancer.

The daily use of sunscreens should be avoided, since it can lead to vitamin D deficiency and some sunscreen ingredients are hazardous to your health. Be sure, though to take additional precautions whenever possible. Wear a hat and stay in the shade. Use zinc oxide, as needed.

Witch Hazel

For men skin care fluids should contain witch hazel. It’s much better than using an after shave which can increase redness, itching, dryness, irritation and inflammation. Witch hazel is soothing.

It reduces inflammation and redness. It should be used after a shaving cut or abrasion. It can also sooth sunburns. It has natural antioxidant and astringent action, but in the right composition causes no burning.

The best skin care for men comes from a company that does no television advertising, so you won’t see it during halftime. You have to take the time to look for it now, while you’re thinking about it.
