Precaution: Beware of the delicacy
of the cloth, don't rub the brush harsh.
Oily Stain Removal - BY CHRISTINE
S.
Having gone through a growth
spurt, my 15 year old son needed all new clothing. After wearing
them once he did the laundry, forgetting to remove the Blistex
from the pocket of a pair of pants. After going through the dryer
2 pairs of dress pants and 3 dress shirts were badly stained
with grease. After trying every method I could find to salvage
the clothing, I tried spraying the grease stains with WD40. I
let the clothing set for 5 minutes then treated with Lestoil
and washed. One shirt required a repeat treatment, but all of
the clothes were fine with no sign of stain afterward.
Ceramics & Refrigerator
Cleaning As Well as Other Items - BY SHARON R.
One thing I have found that
works well to clean ceramics if you are nervous about hand cleaning
is the foaming type bathroom cleaner. The type that is like "scrubbing
bubbles". I use a generic brand. Place the ceramic item
on newspapers, old towels or paper towels and spray liberally.
Let sit for a few minutes and then rinse with hot water. The
dirt washes off and there is no scrubbing necessary. I recently
did this with a textured white angel ceramic which would have
had to be scrubbed with a brush of some sort which really concerned
me. It was quite fragile. It was dirt and dust stained and tobacco
stained. It cleaned up wonderfully and was snow white and clean
again.
I have used the foaming type
bathroom cleaner on both the exterior and interior of my refrigerator
to clean with. Spray down and wipe off the dirt. I have a textured
refrigerator that can be hard to clean because of the grooves.
Also works well on smooth surfaces. Works great on most any surface
other than wood items as well! I use it on my microwave, counter
tops, bathroom fixtures, stove top, and almost everything. Rinse
well.
To clean a microwave that is
heavily soiled, place a cup of water in the microwave and heat
on high for a minute or two and let it sit for at least 5 minutes.
BE CAREFUL WHEN REMOVING THE WATER. IT IS VERY HOT. Then simply
wipe off most spills with a damp cloth or sponge.

Toilet Cleaning - BY CHIKONDI,
MALAWI
If a toilet has been neglected
for long and its got that brown muck around the bowl, just pour
in some coca cola, yes good old coke and leave overnight. You
will find that effortless brushing in the morning will leave
it gleaming.
Cleaning Tip - BY LYNN L.,
PALM BAY, FL.
In reference to the wonderful
article about the woman who cleans with "scrubbing bubbles"
generic brand. Besides all those household tips it does work
great on, it also works marvelously on the vinyl roof on cars.
Many years ago, I bought a 2
year old car with a nice, but dirty vinyl roof. After trying
many cleaning items, and nothing worked, I remembered I used
the "scrubbing bubbles" inside, why not outside too.
I sprayed it on, let it sit
a few minutes and wiped it off. To my SURPRISE, it was like BRAND
NEW. I then decided to try one other additional household item,
and rubbed some Mop-N-Glow all over it to cover and seal it.
It worked great sealing it so no more dirt ever got in the groves
and I literally didn't have to clean it again for a long time.
Good luck finding your inside
cleaning agents outside now too! Thanks for the opportunity to
add my 2 cents worth!
Melted Crayons in the Dryer
- BY THE SNOOKS
If your child leaves crayons
in the pocket of their pants and they make it to the dryer, then
your dryer looked ruined for sure. Use toothpaste to remove the
marks off the dryer drum. This happened to me I have twins and
had to call crayola to get answers, it worked!
Cleaning Up Silly Putty -
BY JENNIE R.
I'm not sure if this will help
anyone, or if I just have 3 crazy little boys. I couldn't fine
any information anywhere on how to clean silly putty off of hair,
or skin, or, say eyelashes... but, olive oil takes it out very
easily.

For stubborn stains, try TECH
Stain Remover. You can purchase it in the small bottle for $6
but once you try it, you can also purchase it in the gallon from
Manhattan Supply, a costume shop for about $22.
This will remove blood, grease,
anything. I pour it into my white clothes (kids socks, yech)
and they are white after washing. When my son played football,
they insisted on white polyester training pants. His was the
whitest on his team. I use shout in addition for those stains
I'm not sure will take one dose of cleaning.
And I use Borateem in my laundry.
Hope this helps! |
