Stocking Up For
An Emergency List |

Here is a checklist for the basics
that you should have stocked for emergencies. You should have
enough supplies for at least 4 days. Check your supplies monthly
so you can replace water and other items as needed. |
- Battery operated radio
- Flashlight
- Extra batteries
- First Aid Kit
- Canned or dried foods
- Can opener
- Paper plates, cups and eating
utensils
- Water at least 3 gallons per
person keep in tightly closed containers such as milk jugs. Before
storing water treat it with chlorine bleach to prevent growth
of microorganisms. Use liquid bleach that contains 5.25 percent
sodium hypochlorite and no soap. Stir in 4 drops per quart of
water. Label the water and keep them in a cool dark place. Or
you can buy bottled water.
- Canned Juices
- Fire Extinguisher
- Candles
- Matches in a water proof container
- Blankets or sleeping bags
- A camp stove or non electrical
cooker that can be used indoors along with extra fuel
- Necessary medications
- A pail with a cover or large
garbage bags (can act as a portable toilet)
