How To Eliminate Foot Blister
By Maui Aguilar

There are common causes why we have foot blister at some point during a sport event or even just a long walk at the park. It’s most common to appear on our feet especially if you have a new pair of shoes. People who are active and engaged in sports most of their lives are most likely to be affected by blisters. But a foot blister isn’t supposed to be a part of sports, evidently, it can be prevented. Blisters are caused by excessive friction of the shoes or clothing against the skin causing it to burn. When the outer layer of the skin starts to separate, the hollow space between the external and internal skin acquires lymph fluid.

The major factors that contribute to the development of a foot
blister are friction, heat and moisture. A foot blister is even
caused by fungal infections of the skin, allergic reactions or
burns. Instances of excessive foot perspiration and
inappropriate footwear are also the reasons. A recent finding
shows that friction is most likely to happen on moist skin than
on very wet or dry skin. Make sure to rub your feet dry before
wearing socks and shoes.

Fortunately, there are ways to prevent a foot blister.
Lubricants, hydration, powders and taping are effective means of
eliminating one. Lubricants maintain the surface of the skin
oiled and that already reduces friction. Hydration, on the other
hand, should be monitored. It basically means you have to drink
enough liquid and make sure that it’s not more or lesser than
your body’s average fluid intake to keep your feet from
swelling. The minute it swells, expect your feet to go on
full-sized feet balloon. Powdering for me is an effective way of
battling a foot blister. It keeps the feet very dry and prevents
it also from perspiring, so the whole time you‘re engaged on a
feet-packed action activity, a foot blister won’t be anymore a
problem. Some people, on the other hand, would rather prefer
taping to prevent a blister which is done by using duct tape.
Duct tape is preferred by most athletes over other type of duct
tapes due to its very slick surface. The drawback here is that,
taping your feet too tightly will cause your feet to swell and
you will have to endure the ache during the run. An alternative
to this problem is to tape the entire inside of your shoes.
Applying tape to the inside soles, inside seams of the shoes and
other parts of the shoe interface that may cause blisters to
your feet will most likely prevent feet sores and aches later
after the run.

It is also a bonus to wear moisture wicking socks. A single-layer or double-layer socks will do, but it depends on your preference. Some people can go by without wearing any socks at all. And they don’t get blisters either! No matter the differences, being precautious will always bring you on the safe side. These are the guidelines but it’s really up to us to take care of ourselves properly.
