The Healing And Comfort Of A
Foot Massage
by M. Jedediah
Massage has been shown to have an enormous amount of benefits
on both the physical and emotional well-being of the body. And
society has sat up and taken notice by building an entire industry
around that which helps to relax, rejuvenate, and revitalize
a society of perpetually work-weary and emotionally stressed
citizens. For those of us who have neither the time nor the money
necessary to treat ourselves to a full body massage, a foot massage
often goes just as long a way in renewing our body and spirit.
Massaging of the feet has more than
just a relaxing effect on the body. It can also be used in conjunction
with reflexology, wherein trigger points on the body are stimulated
in order to inspire overall general health. Reflexology is often
used on the ears and hands, but more often than not, it is a
practice normally reserved for the feet. In essence, the foot
is categorized into different zones; each zone corresponds to
a different area of the body; stimulating that particular zone
will have positive effects on the corresponding body system.
Experts believe that when there is disorder in a particular area
of the body, the energy in this spot becomes "trapped."
In massaging and stimulating the corresponding zone on the foot,
the energy is released and healing can begin. Reflexology of
this kind has been shown to relieve the symptoms of migraines,
pre-menstrual syndrome, and a host of other maladies.
There is, of course, the foot massage that is given solely for
pleasure and not therapeutic reasons. Even when
reflexology is not being practiced, massaging the feet can elevate
your mood, relieve stress, and give you an overall sense of well-being. |

There are many different ways
in which to receive massage. The growing popularity of spas has
afforded guests the opportunity to receive massage of all varieties.
A full body massage, hot stone therapy massage, cranial-sacral
massage, maternity massage, and foot massage are all avenues
in which to bring pleasure and release to our often overly-stressed
bodies.
For those who enjoy the periodic pedicure, a foot massage is
typically given as part of the service. Your feet are soaked
in warm water that is typically treated with aromatic oils. After
you soak your feet, they are normally massaged with wonderful
moisturizer after which your toe nails are groomed and painted.
A pedicure can be a short and affordable pick-me-up when you
are feeling spent of energy and need rejuvenation.
Part of what makes a foot massage so wonderful, however, is the
ability to give and receive it in the comfort of your own home.
Such massage is easy to learn and even a quick massage can bring
great relief and enormous enjoyment. Look to the Internet to
find quick instruction on how to properly massage the feet; there
are also a number of spas that give classes on massage where
you can learn to treat someone you love to a moment of peace
and tranquility. |
