- Goodbye to Stress
- By Paulette Gehrke
Whether you are scrambling to
meet the deadlines at work or just trying to get your daily chores
done before its time for bed and another crazy day, you have
probably experienced some type of stress in your life. Sometimes
we get so caught up in the activities that we must get done that
we forget the most important one of all, ourselves. You know
that person that is making sure that the dogs are feed, the kids
have been picked up from basketball or ballet, or that dinner
is on the table, homework is done, and baths are taken, etc.
Etc. Etc. Yes, ourselves. We forget that we need time for ourselves
to rejuvenate from the daily stress' of life.

Stress is most likely the beginning
of other ailments that we progressively begin to notice in our
bodies. It is important to recognize these symptoms before they
have a chance to manifest into something more serious. You may
experience headaches, tiredness, lack of concentration, trouble
sleeping at night, or you may be anxious or irritable, and just
plain not interested in the things that you used to enjoy. These
are only a few of the many symptoms of stress and some may be
symptoms of other ailments that only a doctor can diagnose for
you. In any case taking time to relax and recharge your mind
and body is most helpful.
There are several ways that you
can accomplish this seemingly impossible activity. Like everyone
else there never seems to be enough hours in the day and the
thought of adding a stress relieving activity into your already
busy schedule may seem like another stress factor in itself.
Start out simple, instead of a quick shower, take a few extra
minutes and light some aroma
therapy candles, lock the bathroom door and submerge yourself
in a warm steamy bath. |

There are some wonderful bath
accessories out there that make bath time extra special. A head
pillow, lets you rest your head against the back of the tub so
your can close your eyes and drift off. Try using lavender, it
is a very soothing scent that helps to alleviate stress, you
can purchase lavender scent in your candles, soaps and bath oils.
Lavender is safe to use and is known to be beneficial for your
skin as well.
Instead of sitting on the couch
and watching T.V., plop yourself on the floor and stretch your
legs and other muscles. There are many books out there that give
indepth instructions on stretching. By stretching the muscles
this helps to release toxins and bring nutrient rich blood into
those areas. It
also helps you become more flexible and able to cope when things
get a little crazy. You must remember to eat a well balanced
diet and drink plenty of water so that your body can help itself
heal.
Now that you have slowly taken
a little extra time for yourself you should be noticing that
you are feeling a little more energetic. Now keep the ball rolling
and take some extra special time and try a professional back
or foot massage, or maybe take some yoga classes, start an exercise
program (as long as your doctor gives you the ok) or try meditation.
Soon you will be feeling younger with more energy and able to
cope with the craziness of everyday life. If any of the signs
or symptoms persist this may be related to a more serious ailment
and you should always consult with your doctor. |
