A great, and
inexpensive way, to make your own facial scrub is to put cornmeal
in your usual face wash. (Burt's Bees Orange Essence is a great
medium and 100% free of preservatives. I love that stuff!) Be
careful that the cornmeal isn't too large a grain or you can
"rip" your pores. If you find that the cornmeal is
too grainy, use a mortar and pestle to grind it to your liking,
but not too much. You'll have powder which defeats the purpose.
You can also
make face masks by grinding rolled oats and mixing it with sour
cream or yogurt. Depending on your skin type, possibilities are
endless. Sometimes, I use only a little hot water and make a
paste.
Also, if your
a soaper, you can use cornmeal in your melt & pour as an
inexpensive alternative to herbs for exfoliation. Be careful
to remember to let the soap congeal a little first before you
put in the cornmeal or the cornmeal will all sink to the bottom
(read "top") of your soap. This I learned the hard
way. |
