Fight Grease with Grease
- BY
KABIBBLES5 |
|
I swear this really
works. Use shortening on any fresh grease stain - such as motor
oil. Rub the shortening into the stain and roll up your clothing
and let set overnight. Rub under running water and the stain
should come right out. |

Tea Stained Pitchers - BY BARBARA R. |
|
By adding white vinegar to your
dishwater you can avoid tea stains all together. Vinegar boosts
the power of your dish soap so you can use the least expensive
brands. All of your hand washed dishes will sparkle. I've noticed
little or no spotting also. No need to towel dry. |

Homemade Sweeping Cloths
- BY
PAT CHAN |
|
Hi, I have purchased a swiffer
sweeper and the dry sweeping cloths. The refills are costly since
I have a cat and I use the sweeper every day. I found that if
you use a rag instead of the dry sweeping cloths, they do the
same thing and then you can put the rag in the washer and use
them again. I have cut the rag the same size of the dry sweeping
cloths and put them in the same holes that hold the sweeping
cloths. I have even used them wet to mop up things that have
spilled. |

Cleaning Tip - BY TAMARA B. |
|
I use hydrogen peroxide on
"protein" stains (grass, blood, hairballs from cats).
I keep a small spray bottle full and use it full strength when
I must clean up after a hairball (such a pleasant experience).
I clean as much as possible with paper towels, throw it away
then saturate the stain with peroxide, let it sit for several
minutes then blot with a thirsty cleaning towel with pressure.
For larger stains where it's soaked deeper into the carpet it
may take a second cleaning. I've even forgotten to come back
and blot after soaking, and the stain was gone.
Peroxide is so inexpensive
... hope this will be helpful. |

Blackened Cookware Renewed - BY BENAY |
|
For cleaning stainless steel
pots, pans, cookie sheets and trays I use a few squirts of Fast
Orange that I keep by the sink for my hubbys grimy hands. You'll
be amazed that something gentle enough for hands puts such powerful
cleaning on even ancient blackened areas and leaves a spotless
shine !
Fast Orange can be found at
most hardware stores (Home Depot, Ace, etc...) |

Saving Money & The Environment - BY DIANE MORGAN,
ST.JOSEPH MO. |
|
Cutting down on paper towels is
necessary for the environment, but of course we use them because
they're so handy. When I clean the kitchen appliances with Windex,
etc. with paper towels, instead of tossing them in the trash,
I place them in a bag that's under my bathroom sink. I reuse
these to clean the toilets, floor, etc. Saves a lot of paper
towels. And since it's only from cleaning kitchen appliances,
they are safe for cleaning toilets. |
