Clothes Dryer - BY PHYLLIS W. |
- Did you know
even though you clean the lint filter after every drying load,
the filter can still be dirty (even if you can't see anything)?
Take the filter over to the sink and run hot water over it. If
the hot water lies on top of the filter or seeps out slowly,
the filter is still clogged. According to a service technician,
dryer sheets can cause a film over the mesh in the filter and
that will burn out the heating element. You can't see the film
on the mesh but it is there. He said the best way to keep the
dryer working is to take the filter out and wash it with hot
soapy water and an old toothbrush (or any nylon brush) at least
every six months. He says it makes the life of the dryer last
at least twice as long.

Super Easy Room Spray -
BY
TRAILSENDVA |
- In a spray
bottle, mix water with a few drops of your favorite essential
oil. Shake before spraying. I like lavender oils in the evening
to induce calm and orange or peppermint in the morning to invigorate.
No need for those chemical air fresheners in our house.

Cleaning Tip - BY DEB F. |
- I use rubbing
alcohol to clean my window, bathroom fixture, and guitar. Pretty
much anything that I want to shine. I buy it from the dollar
store for next to nothing and it lasts a very long time.

Gel Dishwashing Liquid
- BY
JO |
|
Hi, I have discovered that cleaning
the entire shower stall (glass doors, tile, tub) and even ceramic
tile in the bathroom is fantastic. I scrub all of these areas
with, according to my own mixture (you will need water) electrasol
or cascade gel. After cleanings, I rinse with water. Soapscum,
mildew, whatever is gone and I have a beautiful clean bathroom
that shines like glass and stays that way longer. The liquid
helps to prevent buildup. I mix 1/3 gel to 2/3 water in a spray
bottle and keep this in my shower with a rag. I spray the inside
of my shower, doors and all, when I have finished showering and
rinse with an an old rag. I do this maybe 3-4 times a week and
don't have to really clean everything again for 2-3 weeks. Just
touch ups. This prevents the mildew or mold from forming in cracks
and crevices as easily. If used as I described there may not
be a return of molds. Only one caution. THIS CAN MAKE THE BOTTOM OF THE TUB VERY SLIPPERY. Rinse the bottom of the tub very well.
I hope you try this and like it as much as I do. I have no small
children at home any more so this will will probably apply differently
to families with children but it may still be a big help to you. |

Baking Soda - BY CATHY G. |
|
Baking soda cleans and shines
stainless steel sinks. Also put about 1/2 cup baking soda down
the drain followed by 1/2 cup of vinegar to keep the drain flowing
freely. |
