Hair Tips - BY VIOLETA G

I found that natural shampoos and conditioners work best for hair. You could make your own shampoo at home but you have to consider what type of water you have, soap (the soap that you put into the shampoo, Castile Soap most
of times) could make your hair dull if the water is hard.

Very good for the hair are the ACV and Herbal rinses too, these make the hair shiny and healthy looking .
From a book about hair I learned that Lavender Mist is a great way to moisturize the hair and make it smell good . This is the recipe and the other necessary information:

"Lavender has cleansing properties, so this quick mist not only makes your hair smell like a lavender field in Provence, it's also indispensable for cleansing and reviving your curls. Make it in large quantities; keep a large spray bottle in your shower and smaller travel-size bottles in your purse, desk, and car.

1/2 gallon water
5 drops pure (not synthetic) lavender essential oil
3 empty spray bottles (available at most drugstores)

1. Fill a large pot with a half gallon of water.
2. Cover, bring to a boil, and simmer for an hour to get rid of impurities. (Check occasionally to make sure water isn't boiling away.)
3. Remove from heat, add lavender oil, stir, and replace lid.
4. Let steep until cool, then pour into empty spritz bottles.

Lavender mist makes a wonderful gift for friends, whether or not they are for curly girls. Once you get hooked on the spray, you'll find lots of other uses for it. Some of my clients have told me that their husbands sprayed it on them in the delivery room, for a very calming effect. "

I like to make my own conditioners, the regular drug store ones are loaded with silicones that in time make the hair dry and full of buildup. I have a natural one that I buy from the natural food store and use it a is or add some aloe vera gel , jojoba oil , honey or yogurt to it.

Fruit conditioner (my own recipe - tested with very good results)

Ingredients :

- one banana / kiwi / strawberry or other fruit
- 5 spoons of yogurt
- 5 spoons of honey (you can put even more honey)
- 2/3 spoons of olive or jojoba / sweet almond / castor oil

If your hair needs specific care :

- for dry hair add some Vitamin E oil and 2/3 spoons of vegetable glycerin
- for oily hair some tea tree oil

Mix everything very well into a blender and use it as a regular conditioner.Because it was too much to use it only one time, I put the rest into ice trays and I freeze it until next time I wash my hair. When I need it I just pop a cube or 2 and let it defrost.

It is very important to treat your hair gently and make sure you don't damage it by using harsh products, irons, make sure you eat enough protein and take a good multivitamin, fish oil, primrose oil, flax seed oil and use a comb with big teeth.

Swimming - BY CHARLES M
Before jumping into the pool, wet hair... and apply a deep conditioner every 1 1/2 hour. The chlorine will not harm your hair as much. Also, if you plan on staying in there for awhile, apply a sunblock (that contains astazanthin) over the conditioner.

Tip for Flyaway Hair - BY CAT1CAT2CAT3CAT4
If you have fine hair then this is the tip for you. Wash your hair as normal, then use beer in the final rinse to add some body into your hair. It's cheap and effective.
